Woljeong Haenyeo Sikdang (ì›”ì • í•´ë…€ì‹ë‹¹) is a seafood restaurant at the edge of Woljeong-ri Beach on Jeju’s northeast coast, right in front of Woljeong Port. The name means “Woljeong haenyeo restaurant.” Haenyeo are Jeju’s women free divers, and the menu leans on the kind of seafood they bring up: sea urchin, abalone and small wild abalone called obunjagi. The signature dish, though, is whole silver hairtail braised in a spicy red sauce. Older listings and many Korean blogs use the longer name “ì›”ì •ë¦¬ í•´ë…€ì‹ë‹¹ ì œì£¼êµ¬ì¢Œê¹€ë…•ì„¸í™”ë³¸ì ” (Woljeong-ri Haenyeo Sikdang, Gujwa Gimnyeong-Sehwa main branch). It’s the same place. This guide covers the menu and listed prices, hours, parking and the bus. Practical details come from the restaurant’s Naver Place listing, checked on October 19, 2026.

Why it’s worth a stop
Woljeong-ri is a small village on the east side of Jeju. VisitJeju describes its beach as emerald-colored and shallow in places, popular with surfers because the waves come in at a fairly steady height, and part of Jeju Olle Trail Route 20 (Gimnyeong–Hado). The beachfront is mostly cafés. Woljeong Haenyeo Sikdang is one of the places there where you can sit down to a full Jeju seafood meal.
Two things make it practical for travelers. It opens at 8 a.m., so it works for breakfast; abalone porridge and sea urchin seaweed soup are classic Korean morning dishes. And many meals are single portions, so you can come alone for one bowl of hot pot instead of a big hairtail platter.
A quick word on haenyeo
Haenyeo are women who dive without breathing equipment to gather shellfish and seaweed off Jeju’s coast. UNESCO added the culture of Jeju haenyeo to its list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016. Many island seafood restaurants use “haenyeo” in their names. Here, the restaurant’s Naver menu says the sea urchin in its bibimbap and the obunjagi in its hot pot are caught by Jeju haenyeo. We haven’t verified its suppliers.
The dishes, explained
- Galchi (hairtail, also called cutlassfish): a long, flat, silver fish closely linked with Jeju. Eun-galchi means silver hairtail. The restaurant says it only uses line-caught Jeju silver hairtail. Tong-galchi means the fish is served whole on a long platter instead of cut into pieces.
- Galchi-jorim: hairtail braised in a sweet-spicy red sauce, usually with radish and vegetables.
- Galchi-gui: grilled hairtail. It’s simpler and not spicy, which makes it a good choice for kids or anyone who doesn’t eat chili.
- Okdom-gui: grilled tilefish, a Jeju specialty. The menu says it’s 100% Jeju okdom, not the imported fish sometimes sold in its place.
- Ttukbaegi: a hot stew served in an earthenware bowl. This menu has an abalone version (jeonbok haemul ttukbaegi) and an obunjagi version.
- Obunjagi: a small abalone-like shellfish from Jeju’s coast. It’s usually pricier than farmed abalone.
- Seongge bibimbap and seongge miyeokguk: rice mixed with sea urchin, and seaweed soup with sea urchin.
- Jeonbok-juk: rice porridge with abalone, a gentle, filling breakfast.
- Mulhoe: a cold soup of raw seafood in a tangy broth, mostly eaten in summer. Hanchi is a Jeju squid that’s common in summer.
- Haemultang: a big seafood hot pot for the table.

Hours
Naver Place lists daily hours of 08:00–21:00 and no regular closing day (checked October 19, 2026). A last-order time isn’t listed. At least one older blog post mentioned Wednesday closings, so if you’re driving out specifically, call 064-782-6644 first.
Getting there
- By bus: the restaurant’s own directions on Naver say to take bus 101 from Jeju International Airport, get off at the Woljeong-ri [South] stop (ì›”ì •ë¦¬[남]), and walk about 10 minutes. Check current routes and times in Naver Map or Kakao Map before you go.
- On foot from the beach: it sits at the left end of Woljeong-ri Beach, directly in front of Woljeong Port, about a 1–2 minute walk (Naver Place directions).
- By car: search ì›”ì •í•´ë…€ì‹ë‹¹ or ì›”ì •ë¦¬í•´ë…€ì‹ë‹¹ in Naver Map, Kakao Map or T map. English names don’t always match in Korean map apps, so copying the Korean name is the safest option.
Parking
Naver Place lists free parking, plus a parking space for drivers with disabilities. The number of spaces isn’t listed. Woljeong-ri’s beachfront road gets busy in summer, so arriving early or late in the day is easier.
Good to know
- Reservations and takeout: both are available, according to Naver Place.
- Seating: Naver lists group seating for 4–80 people and private rooms for 4–20, along with regular tables, floor seating and counter seats.
- Families: high chairs are available.
- Accessibility: Naver lists a wheelchair-accessible entrance, seating and restroom.
- Payment: Naver lists Jeju local currency (paper, card and mobile), Zero Pay and mobile “easy pay” options. It doesn’t list which credit cards are accepted, so carry a backup card or some cash.
More places to eat like a local in Jeju
- Haenyeo Three Sisters (Hyeopjae): another hairtail-and-seafood restaurant with a haenyeo theme, on the opposite (northwest) coast. Useful if you’re staying in the west.
- Haemaru (Seongsan Ilchulbong): further along the east coast, by Seongsan Ilchulbong. It’s known for whole braised and grilled hairtail sets.
- Hallim Kalguksu: a cheap, early bowl of Jeju sea snail (bomal) noodle soup if you want something lighter than hairtail.
