Jeju Mihyang Jungmun: Whole Grilled Hairtail Menu, Prices, Hours and Parking (Not a Chinese Restaurant)

Jeju Mihyang (ì œì£¼ë¯¸í–¥) is a seafood restaurant in the Jungmun Tourist Complex on Jeju’s south coast, and this is its main Jungmun branch (ì¤‘ë¬¸ë³¸ì ). It’s best known for whole grilled galchi, silver hairtail (also called beltfish): one long fish laid out across the table. The menu also covers braised hairtail, mackerel, raw fish, octopus hot pot and abalone, plus single-bowl dishes like abalone porridge that work for breakfast. It’s a short walk from Cheonjeyeon Falls, which makes it an easy add-on to a Jungmun sightseeing day. This guide covers the menu and listed prices, hours, parking and buses. Practical details come from the restaurant’s Naver Place listing and its VisitJeju and VisitKorea entries, checked October 2026.

Why it’s worth a stop

Jungmun is Jeju’s resort district: big hotels, the convention center, beaches and a cluster of sights. VisitJeju calls Jeju Mihyang a seafood specialist inside the Jungmun Tourist Complex, with the whole grilled hairtail as the main draw. VisitKorea describes it as a Jungmun restaurant famous for mackerel and beltfish dishes, and both listings mention views toward the sea, Yeomiji Botanical Garden and Seonimgyo, the arched “fairy bridge” over Cheonjeyeon (ì„ ë…€ë‹¤ë¦¬ / ì„ ìž„êµ).

It’s also practical. The listing says it opens at 9:30 a.m., so you can have abalone porridge or sea urchin seaweed soup before heading out. And it seats large groups, with rooms listed for up to 100 people, which helps if you’re traveling with family.

The dishes, explained

Whole grilled hairtail (통갈치구이, tong-galchi-gui): Jeju hairtail is a long, thin silver fish with soft, mild white flesh. “Tong” means whole: instead of cut chunks, the fish comes out in one long piece. To eat it, pull off the fine side bones with chopsticks first, then lift the flesh off the spine.

Braised hairtail (갈치조림, galchi-jorim): hairtail simmered in a spicy, slightly sweet red sauce with radish. The whole-fish version here also lists octopus, abalone, mussels and garaetteok (rice cake sticks).

Hairtail sashimi (갈치회, galchi-hoe): hairtail spoils fast, so raw hairtail is something you mostly find near where it’s caught. Mackerel sashimi (ê³ ë“±ì–´íšŒ) is the other Jeju specialty in the same category.

Sea urchin seaweed soup (성게미역국): seaweed soup made with sea urchin roe. It’s mild and a common Jeju breakfast.

VisitJeju also lists the 15:30–16:00 break. But VisitKorea’s English page still lists 09:00–22:00 and closed on Sundays, Seollal and Chuseok, and some blogs say it closes at 21:30. The Naver listing is the most recently updated, but if you’re planning a Sunday or holiday visit, call first.

Getting there

By bus: the restaurant’s Naver directions say to take bus 202, 282, 531 or 600, get off at Jungmun Tourist Complex Entrance (중문관광단지입구), and walk about 5 minutes. Naver Place also lists these nearby stops:

  • Gwangwang-danji Entrance (관광단지 입구): about 4 minutes on foot (231 m)
  • Cheonjeyeon Falls [north] (ì²œì œì—°íí¬[북]): about 5 minutes (273 m)

The 600 airport bus is the simplest option if you’re coming straight from Jeju International Airport. Check the current timetable before you go.

By car: search “ì œì£¼ë¯¸í–¥ ì¤‘ë¬¸ë³¸ì ” in Naver Map or Kakao Map.
